Sparta is OPEN!

As of noon Thursday January 27th, we will be opening all of the trails in Monroe County except for trail 51 from intersection 45 east to Juneau County and Eagles Nest that will be closed until further notice due to a beaver dam flooding the trail.

As of January 4th, the bridge just north of Norwalk on the Elroy-Sparta Bike trail has been shut down to all snowmobile and groomer traffic due to deteriorating condition. A reroute has been marked going around that bridge. Please follow the signs for the reroute and please stay on the marked trail!

When out riding the trail for the first time of the year, please be aware they are in very early season condition and will have some rough spots as well as some slight reroutes due to crop rotation or landowner changes. Do not assume the trail is going where it always has in the past!

Anyone caught riding on closed trails will be considered trespassing and can be ticketed and fined! Any new trail openings will be based upon future snowfall and the local clubs and county decisions!
